4 Shot at Howe Park - Unsanctioned Gathering Ends in Shooting





On Saturday evening, an unauthorized gathering of a large crowd at Howe Community Park in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento erupted in gunfire when 20 to 25 gunshots filled the air as deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office were in the midst of clearing the area.

How Events Unfolded

At around 6:30 PM on April 18, the SCSO was notified about individuals who may have been carrying concealed weapons at Howe Park. A second report reported a potential fight and people running from the area.

A sheriff's helicopter was called in and searched the park but failed to identify any physical confrontation.

Nonetheless, an estimated several hundred attendees had come together at Howe Community Park for what authorities described as an unauthorized gathering.
